I somehow feel busy

November 30, 2007

Even though I never really DO anything.  I hardly leave the house except to run the kids around to preschool, TKD, dance, etc.  But I don’t really feel like I have time to sit down and blog.  It’s like when I have a free moment, I need to do something productive while I can…like SHOWER or something!  :)   I love it though.  Ayla is doing great.  We are forcing her to be awake a little more often in the evening which has lead to 2 nights in a row of her sleeping from 10:30-5:00.  That works for me!  I feel totally rested and I’m loving it.  This week I have spent my time trying to get caught up on everything the makes our life run…like scheduling appointments, making sure all bills are paid, updating my planner, doing laundry, etc.  I feel like we are getting back on track.  This month is going to be a busy one and I want to be prepared.  We leave for Florida on Christmas night and don’t get back until New Years Day.  So looking forward to the holidays and then our week long escape from reality!!  Off to pick up Lani from school.  I’ll try to post some new pics soon.

So this is what it’s like…

November 28, 2007

to have a newborn!  Ayla has found her way into the land of the living…from about 11:30 pm until 3:30 am!!  She will be 3 weeks old on Friday, but up until the last 2 nights, all she has done is sleep, sleep and sleep.  Apparently that goes away.  She is still loving to sleep during the day, ALL day, but has decided late nights are a good time to bond with mommy.  So today I am a bit sleepy.  And I’m sure Paul is as well.  He said this morning, “I don’t care that she’s awake, but can’t she just cooo and stuff?  Does she need to CRY?”  Yeah, if she’s not sleeping, neither are we!  This too shall pass.  I am now going to wake this child up and keep her awake for a couple hours so we can get some sleep tonight!!

Exciting Stuff

November 24, 2007

Paul has 4 days off in a row!  Woo-hoo!  He’s getting trim put up in our upstairs bathroom.  I finally got 3 days worth of dirty dishes finished up.  I can officially fit into 3 pairs of my “fat jeans”, which brings great joy to my heart.  I packed away (forever) my maternity clothes.  It’s a big day…

Pure Comedy

November 23, 2007

We had family pictures today.  It was just down right funny.  We did get our family photo out of the way and things were moving along pretty smoothly, but then it was time to get Ayla naked for her cute little baby shots.  Well, she doesn’t really enjoy being naked.  She cries.  So I decided I’d calm her by feeding her.  So I did.  She was looking pretty content as she sat naked in a bean bag chair, covered by her favorite WHITE blanket.  She was fully relaxed and the poop started flowing.  She pooped all over the white blanket…THREE times.  Then I picked her up and we tried to get her cleaned up.  The poop was on her feet and she had kicked it all over.  (I forgot to mention this guy’s studio was in his house…in a new addition…with new carpet.)  She I was holding her, certain that there was no possible way there could be any poop left in her when the explosion came again.  This time all down my shirt and pants onto the nice light carpet.  I ran to the back drop…which was white also, and she got some all over that.   After we got her cleaned up and the photographer had finally put away the carpet stain remover, we layed her down on the ground and we all put our hands on her tummy as he took our photo.  I could tell Lani was a little concerned because she was at Ayla’s feet…and Ayla was still naked.  Then Ayla sneezed and Lani looked down and poop came shooting out again.  Needless to say, we were laughing hysterically.  The photographer was not.  I picked her up and she spit up all over my shirt.  She was laying on top of a stack of suitcases and she peed all over.  It was seriously unbelievable.  I’m not sure I’ll be able to look at the final photographs EVER in my life without thinking of flying poop, pee and puke.  It was definitely our entertainment for the day.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera there!

Time flies

November 21, 2007

I haven’t posted for a couple of days!  Not too much to report.  Ayla continues to do a ton of sleeping.  I baked some cookies yesterday throughout the day for Paul to bring to work today.  I’ve had a couple YUMMY meals brought in by good friends and it has been so helpful. I am capable of cooking, it just relieves a little bit of pressure trying to figure out what to make, go to the store with 3 children and get the ingredients and get it put together while still trying to get kids picked up and dropped off and Ayla nursed every 3 hours and diapers changed, etc.  But we are getting things figured out and before long we’ll be in a good routine, I think.  And oh how I love a routine!  Here are some recent pics.  I think Aylo looks so big in some pics, but you can see in the photo with Paul’s hand in it that she is still pretty tiny.  We get family photos taken on Friday.  My goal…lose 15 pounds in 2 days.  Hmmm…we’ll see how that works out for me!

The “Sh” word

November 17, 2007

This afternoon Brigg was playing outside with the roofers kids while they finished up.  After they left he said that one of them had said a bad word.  I said, “Oh no.  Well if you know it’s bad then, don’t repeat it.”  He says, “I know.”  And I dropped it.  Well tonight I was telling Paul and he called Brigg in and asked what word was used.  Brigg said, “The SHHHHH word.”  Paul said, “The “Sh” word?”  Brigg says, “Yep!”  I said, ” You mean Sh*#?”  His eyes got kind of big and he whispered very quietly, “No.  He said ’shut up’.”  I had to laugh.  Here I was introducing my child to profanity and he was worried about saying “shut up”.  I was pretty proud though that he was aware that shut up was an “sh” word!  Oh Brigg…

She’s awake

November 17, 2007

I think she’s starting to come to life.  Ayla’s due date is actually tomorrow, so I’m thinking she is starting to finally join the land of the living!!  Here are some pics from this morning.  She was awake for almost 2 hours straight!  That’s a record.  Lani was so so great with her.  She is really going to be a big help!

(She really DOES have a neck, I’m just not sure where it is in this picture!)

I’ll give you one guess as to what Lani got as a “Congratulations on becoming a big sister!” gift from Tricia…

It’s the weekend?!?

November 16, 2007

Where did the past week go??  Looking forward to having Paul home with us again.  He works in the morning, but will be off Saturday afternoon and Sunday.  I am feeling pretty crummy.  I have a cold…scratchy throat, plugged up nose, just plain yuck.  Lani is at the end of this bug, but she still isn’t feeling right either.  Of course, Ayla is sleeping.  Lani is laying on the floor with her pillow, blanket and dolly, watching “Super Heroes”.  Her eyes are heavy and she may just fall asleep.  As I waited in line for her today at preschool I thought I’d “rest my eyes” for a second.  When I woke up, the people that were in front of me were gone and I was holding up about 10 cars behind be.  Nice.  Brigg will be off the bus in about 45 minutes, so I may just have to rest my eyes again before he gets home.

Took a few more pics this afternoon.  I just LOVE pics of my babies’ feet!!  And I thought the one of “The Girls” turned out pretty good for taking it on my own!!  Here’s to a great weekend…
