Calling all breastfeeding mommies…

October 30, 2007

I heard about this organization a while ago through Tricia (I think!).  Then Jody just sent me this link… http://abcnews.go.com:80/Video/playerIndex?id=3753908&affil=kabc

Watch it.  I am amazed.  I am totally doing it!  Just thought some other mommies out there might spread the word and forward the cause!  Something we can do right from home.

Some progress for Paul

October 30, 2007

Paul wanted me to post a pic for him to see from work.  Ok, you need to remember that this is just a band-aid fix.  We have plans of totally gutting this kitchen in the future, so we decided to simply paint the wallpaper.  I know, not the best solution, but it will work for now.  When you see the wallpaper you will realize why we find it necessary.  We have lived with this wallpaper for 3 years.  I’m sick of it…

Here’s what it looks like after one coat of the red paint.  It’s going to take like 4 or 5 coats to cover, but it will be a great improvement!

Off to Menards to get flooring before they sell out!! (We are getting a new mega Menards and everything at the old one must be sold.  They are not moving ANY inventory over to the new store.  Apparently it is going fast!)

So this is what we do

October 30, 2007

Seems like whenever we have a big event coming up we decide to take on a major home project.  For some reason it makes sense to us.  So we have a baby coming any day.  We decided to do a complete roof tear off and re-roof.  AND we started painting our kitchenette red.  Plus, we decided to pull out the nasty carpet in there and put in some wood laminate.  Sounds like a good idea, right?  They are supposed to start on the roof today or tomorrow.  Should take about 4 days.  This was a definite hire-out project.  A very steep roof and slate tile shingles.  I really like the feeling of hiring someone else to do it from start to finish in four days…details and all.  Anxious for this to be done so we can permanantly repair the damage that has been done to our living room ceiling.  As far as the kitchen goes, that is OUR project.  And it needs to be CHEAP.  We had 2 gallons of red paint in our basement so the paint color decision was an easy one!  Menards has everything on sale, so 120 square feet of wood laminate should be doable on a tight budget.  I’m taking bets on the probability this will all be complete by the time baby arrives…odds are not good.  But it will keep us occupied!

37 week appointment

October 29, 2007

Had my doctors appointment today.  I’m certain no more are necessary until I go into labor.  If I have to steop on the scale one more time, I’m going to bawl!  He checked me today…which is always so much fun.  I am a “fingertip” dilated.  Seriously, I looked at his fingertip, and I swear it is much larger than a centimeter, so I  really don’t understand his form of measurement!  :)   He said “Cassie.  I think it will be a couple of weeks.”  Yeah, whatever.  Not if I have anything to do with it!!  So I go back on Monday.  But he DID say she is head-down, which is good.  She had been sideways at one point.  So that’s is.  Still we wait…

Our fat-lipped dancing star

October 29, 2007

Nalani went face first into the cement yesterday afternoon while riding her scooter down the hill.  Brigg said her head bounced twice on the cement.  Good thing she had on her helmet.  She crashed out after calming down and I snapped a photo.  I don’t think she would have posed for a fat lip shot, so I had to get it while she was sleeping.  Her lip was about 4 times it’s normal size…

But she DID in fact pose for a photo in her “Dancing with the Stars” dress.  She and Mom made it a couple weeks ago.  (Lisa, you can expect to receive one for Macy in blue in the near future).  She is quite proud of this little dress…

A Success

October 27, 2007

I think we can call today a success.  What more could you ask for?

She had balloons

A “wock staw” watch

Several birthday phone call wishes

A flower delivery

A trip to Jungle Bungle

Pizza and an ice cream sundae

A PRINCESS birthday cake (which she saw for the very first time in the above pics)

Topped with church (in her new 4’s and 5’s classroom…which is a BIG deal!), popcorn and a movie.

This little girl is in heaven.  We made it through the day without having our daughters share a birthday for the rest of their lives!  It was a success, no doubt!

Nalani

October 27, 2007

She’s 4.  I can’t believe it.  When did this happen?!?  My baby is about to be a big sister and she will be fabulous!!  Her sensitive, nurturing (yet somewhat bossy) personality will come in handy in the years to come as she grows into her role as “Big Sister”.  I thank God everyday for giving me this sweet little girl.  So grateful she calls me mommy.  Happy Birthday Lulu!!  We love you so very much!

Best Friends

October 26, 2007

I remember the day Macy made her way into this world 4 years ago.  I had been having contractions all day long and we got the word Lisa had delivered a little girl.  Tears flowed.  I SO wanted to go see her, but Paul was certain I would go into labor on the way there.  It was only 25 hours later that Nalani was born.  These two were born to be best friends.  They played together before they were even born.  In this photo they were seriously kicking eachother!!

I delivered Nalani on October 27.  On October 31 the girls met for the very first time.  They were quick friends…

From day one you could often find the girls dressed alike…or at least “the same but different”…

They love eachother…

They have celebrated birthdays together

Protected eachother…

Just enjoyed being together…

They are the cutest.  Feel so blessed that these 2 little girls have been able to share the last 4 years growing up together.  I am certain if you asked Nalani who her best friend was,”Macy” would be her immediate answer.  There is an unexplainable bond that I’m sure will only grow in the years to come.  Happy Birthday Macer!  We LOVE you!!!

Thank goodness her b-day falls around Halloween!

October 26, 2007

Because Cinderella turned out a little bit scary.  Lani will be happy…she just might have nightmares about her spooky princess cake!  :)

And here are the cupcakes she took to school this morning for her birthday treat.  She loved them!

Well, I am done.  Literally done.  I think I even have time to rest a bit before Brigg gets off the bus!  My kitchen is covered in 6 different colors of frosting and I didn’t put the very finishing details on the cake (the border around the bottom edge by the pan) but I don’t care.  It’ll have to do for this year.  By the way, if any moms out there have little girls who want a Cinderella cake, don’t go buy that pan…you can use mine!!

Birthday Preparations

October 25, 2007

Lani turns 4 on Saturday.  I can’t believe it.  My not-so-much-a-baby-anymore “baby” is going to be 4.  I’ve been cranky and hormonal.  I’m trying to plan for a fabulous day for her.  Tomorrow she brings birthday treats to school so today we prepared them.  We made cupcakes and frosted them to look like the tops of pumpkins.  They are frosted orange and have tootsie rolls inserted in the middle for stems.  We piped in green frosting to look like a vine hanging from the stem.  They are cute and she is pleased.  Then after she went to bed, I baked her birthday cake…trust me, that was the easy part.  She has been dying for a cinderella cake, so that’s what she is getting.  We’ll see how it turns out.  I bought the Wilton cake pan and all the decorating tips to make one of those cakes with the stars all over it.  Now that the cake is baked, I am going to TRY to frost it while she’s at preschool tomorrow.  I’ve never made one before, so it could be quite humorous.  I have princess wrapping paper and pink curly ribbon.  Just hoping I can muster up the energy to get through the next day of preparations and still be perky for her actual birthday!  We will be hitting Jungle Bungle when Paul gets off work and then coming home for cake, ice cream and gifts.  Just the 4 (and a half) of us.  It will be nice.  I’ll post pics of my baking creations tomorrow.  Off to bed for tonight.
