Weekend Getaway

The kids and I are hopping in the car tomorrow and heading out to visit Paul’s parents.  Brigg has been counting down the days and wants to know if we are “leaving as soon as we wake up”.  We are going to try and split up the trip and still get there by 4:00 or so.  We’ll be gone until Sunday and I will not be bringing my lap top.  Paul needs it to work on his classes while we are away.  I may go through a little withdrawal, but I’m sure we’ll keep busy chasing the kids around!  So this’ll be it until Sunday!  Have a great weekend!

This is the life…

It was a great day today.  Took the kids to the park for a picnic and then to the fountain.  They had almost as much fun as Jody and I…but on days like this it’s hard to beat the joy felt by a stay-at-home mommy!

We really want to take advantage of this last week of having the little ones home before the big kids get out of school and take over all the fun daytime stuff!!

Coming to an end…

The long weekend is coming to an end.  It seemed a lot longer than it really was.  We packed in as much as possible.  Brigg graduated, Lani learned to ride without training wheels, she had a dance recital, we hit the Chart House, had company, and today worked around the house.  This week will be the last before we start hitting swimming lessons, golf lessons, wedding season, etc.  So we (the kids and I) are heading to Storm Lake to visit Nana and Papa B. before the crazy days of summer start.  We’ll leave on Thursday and return on Sunday.  The kids are counting down the days til departure.  I’m just trying to get as much done as possible around here so I don’t have to come home to a mess.  I got all our bedding finished up today and hope to have all laundry washed, folded and PUT AWAY by the time I leave.  That will be a chore in itself!  I’m feeling a little more peppy these days and hopefully it continues to get better.  I’ll need all the energy I can muster up to survive this summer!  Off to our final Memorial Day weekend outing…a BBQ.  Here’s to a productive week!!

Lani’s big day

Well, it’s over!  Whew!  Lani very patiently sat through another session of hair and make-up and then through the whole recital. We are very proud of her.  And I’m convinced she was the best dancer on stage…as well as the cutest.  I’m not a bit biased either…

It’s all over…

I can’t believe it, but Nalani has figured out how to ride a bicycle without training wheels.  I thought she was way too young, but I guess determination was the key…and she is definitely NOT lacking in that!  She still can’t figure out how to start herself and also needs to perfect her steering, but I think the training wheels are off for good…

Dress Rehearsal

Well, this was it.  This evening was Nalani’s dress rehearsal for her first ever recital.  She had to get her hair and make-up completely done because it was also make-up session for pictures.  (Kind of weird side note…the photographer that took the pictures has his studio in Grundy Center, IA–in the house that I LIVED in for a few years growing up!!  Strange!)  Anyway, we were gone when they had pics taken, so she was all dolled up.  Jennie came down to do her hair and make-up and I could just invision this child going to PROM.  She looked so grown up.  Here are some pics…

No flash photography at the actual recital tomorrow morning, so this will be it for photos on stage!  I’m sure we’ll get plenty before we head in though.  (becky, jennie is planning on doing lauren’s hair like this for the wedding!)

Our little graduate

Brigg had his preshool graduation.  It was so fun having a group there to cheer him on!  I think Nana B was excited to be a part!

Surprise!!

It was almost 7:30 and we were watching American Idol.  All the sudden we hear a knock knock knock on the door.  Guess who came for Brigg’s graduation and Lani’s dance recital…

Yep, Nana B surprised us and now the poor woman has to stay for the next few days in my very dirty home.  Oh well…I think the kids might be able to take her mind off it.  They have barely left her side since she arrived!  Thanks Donna!!
